Rhino FS2 Tutorial

<2.0 - Setting Up Rhino>

First off, let's look at the Rhino interface. I'm running Windows at 1152x864 resolution, so you will have to compensate if you're running at a different resolution.

As you can see from comparing what you probably have to the screenshot, I've modified the standard layout quite a bit to provide easy access to the tools I use the most.
<Rhino toolbar layouts> Note: To use the downloaded layout, load Rhino. Go to the Tools menu > Toolbar layouts > Open... and choose the file.
Fortunately, you can save the toolbar layouts to a file. I've provided my layout here in 3 formats: ZIP, RAR and ACE. The ACE compressed the best, so if you are able to read that format, I suggest you download it. It will provide you with all the needed buttons for this tutorial right there on the screen, and I will be writing on the assumption that you do not have to go hunting through sub-toolbar to find a specific button.

Now, I'm also going to assume that you have a basic working knowledge of Rhino, else you probably wouldn't be reading this. So I won't get into things like how to draw a polyline or cube, how to navigate in the different views, etc. I'll be concentrating on specific points that will greatly ease the conversion of your model from Rhino, through texturing and sub-object defining in TS, to POF CS conversion.

One last thing: many of the different methods which I will be explaining to you are methods which I have found to be the easiest for me. Your brain may work differently than mine. Therefore, you may find that my way isn't the best way for you. You may even think that my way is just about the stupidest and worst way something could be done, and that you have a much better way. Not only is that fine - that's great. I will love to hear from you how you prefer to do a specific task in a certain way which you have found to be more efficient, etc. I will not love to hear from you how my way is stupid, inferior and just plain dumb. Get the picture? :)
